Colony Club by Elegant Hotels in Barbados is a hotel like no other; from the welcome rum punch to the complementary water sports the hotel has everything needed for a relaxing but fun filled holiday.
Having as a family, always wanted to visit the Caribbean Island Barbados Andara Travel recommended the Colony Club Hotel located on the West Coast of St James Barbados to us. This recommendation exceeded any expectations we had, having now returned to this hotel for the third time it has become a personal favorite to us.
Arriving to the hotel the staff were immediately very welcoming and friendly, greeting us with a (very strong) rum punch, and taking our bags to our rooms. We were very pleasantly surprised with our rooms, both being a generous size with a sea front balcony. Once unpacking, we headed down to the pool bar where we spent the rest of the first evening, watching the breathtaking sunset whilst enjoying half price happy hour cocktails!
After a wonderful first night sleep we headed to breakfast, having dairy intolerances the hotel was very helpful providing me dairy free, almond milk every morning. The breakfast had a huge selection of fresh cooked and continental options setting me up perfectly for a day of water sports.
Colony Club has a pool intertwined around the rooms, the restaurant and the beach bar creating a peaceful environment with lots of deck chairs around if you’d prefer sunbathe by the pool. Personally we spent most of our time on the beach, with gentle water and pontoons to swim out onto, the beach was very family friendly with the added bonus of potentially seeing the beautiful turtles! See photo below for my own interaction with these wonderful animals. The beach further offered a number of watersports activity, several which are complementary for Colony Club Guests from paddle boarding to waterskiing and even sailing.
I have had the fortune of swimming with these beautiful creature’s every time I have visited Barbados and they have made my holiday every time! My first interaction with them was when I was jet skiing, an activity that you can do with Colony Club, one swam around me! We then booked onto a Catamaran Tour that Colony Club recommended to us, this was exceptional, getting the opportunity to swim with several turtles and even getting close enough to touch them!
Barbados provides a wide range of restaurants to eat out, from Cin Cin by the Sea, The Lone Star or The Cliff Beach Club the quality of food is like no over holiday destination I have been to. The photo below is from The Cliff Restaurant, one of the most upmarket places to eat out in Barbados but an unforgettable experience with the water next to the restaurant lite up allowing you to see huge fish (I was convinced they were sharks) and sting rays swimming past! As regards to booking restaurants the Colony Club will book all restaurants and Taxi’s for you but I would recommend booking the Cliff before you arrive in Barbados, especially in peak Summer season.
I would happily go back to the Colony Club over and over again, the island offers everything I could want for a summer family holiday and the hotel went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.
Thank you Andara Travel for the wonderful recommendation!
