Singapore

Fast-paced Singapore provides the ultimate urban playground with its spic and span cityscape.
A bewitching blend of East and West, and a melting pot of Malay, European and Chinese cultures, Singapore is a popular holiday destination and an endless delight to discover. Singapore was formerly just a humble fishing village inhabited by an indigenous settlement, whereas now the city is one of the most prosperous in the world and has the busiest port.

The thriving city of Singapore combines the skyscrapers and subways of a modern, affluent city with a medley cultural influences and a tropical climate, with tasty food, good shopping and a vibrant night-life scene. The luxury hotels in Singapore are beyond compare and include the world famous Raffles Singapore among their ranks.

Singapore is a small country on a small island, but with just over 5 million people it is a busy city state. However, unlike many other densely populated countries, Singapore has approximately half its area covered by greenery and with over 50 major parks and 4 nature reserves it is an enchanting garden city.
If visitors are is looking to discover old world charm, then explore and experience the island’s key historical landmarks or memorials. There is the opportunity to embark on a heritage trail and enjoy the sights and sounds at various cultural precincts, notably Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam.
Singapore’s mouth-watering food is one of its main attraction. Pull up a pew at a hawker centre, crack open a Tiger beer and immerse yourself in a munificent range of Asian delights such as chilli crab, sambal stingray or char kway teow (literally meaning stir-fried rice cake strips); heavy on the flavour, light on the wallet. A whole host of Oriental delicacies, local specialities and cuisine from around the world are a mere stone’s throw away.

Want a shopping spree? The retail heart of the city is primarily located along the recently renovated Orchard Road. Take your pick of the fashion houses and space-age gadgets in over 200 malls around Singapore, or rummage for antiques at Peranakan Place. Singapore delivers Southeast Asia’s best shopping and innovative, stylish restaurants, plus a swathe of top-notch hotels. Top of the tree is Raffles, a timeless symbol of colonial opulence.

To escape the city, locals and tourists head to Sentosa Island, a resort self-titled as ‘Asia’s Favourite Playground’. The island is home to Resorts World – Singapore’s own Universal Studios, the adrenaline-fuelled theme park of Imbiah Lookout and a number of fun-filled attractions along its two mile beach. Sentosa Island is a family’s dream destination which also features charming coastal and forest ecosystems and nature walks, ideal for a bit of wildlife spotting.
